Safety Compliance:

For many business owners, staying compliant with regulations and industry standards can feel like a burdensome task. Paperwork is often tedious, and keeping up with constant changes can be overwhelming. Even worse, errors or missed requirements can lead to expensive penalties. Fortunately, Marvel Virtuals has the solution to make this process easier for you.

FMCSA/DOT Compliance and More

Navigating the rules and regulations set by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) can be time-consuming and complex. Whether you’re managing a fleet or a single 1-ton truck, staying on top of the required documentation and monitoring can be overwhelming. Here’s an overview of some key requirements you should be aware of:

Driver Qualification

If you’re hiring drivers for interstate or intrastate transportation, you are required to maintain driver qualification files. These files include essential information such as the driver’s driving history, employment records, road test certificates, violation records, and a three-year inquiry to state agencies. In addition to meeting basic driving qualifications, driver qualification logs must be updated annually. The DOT also mandates drug and alcohol testing in specific circumstances.

Truck ELD Requirements for Driver Logs

Since December 2019, FMCSA’s ELD (Electronic Logging Device) requirements have been in effect. Carriers must ensure compliance with daily Hours of Service regulations by using ELDs that are connected to the truck’s engine to generate electronic logs for drivers. Regular monthly reviews of drivers’ logs and reports are also required to address any non-compliance. ELDs are a primary focus for DOT inspectors and auditors, so it’s crucial to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Additional Requirements

In addition to driver logs and ELD compliance, DOT/FMCSA regulations include roadside safety inspections, state mileage audits, and IRP (International Registration Plan) and IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) audits.
